The initial stages of the creation of Studio Click takes us back to the early 90s when Sanka Gallege, our Founder, was introduced to the wonderful world of photography at the age of 15, making an indelible mark in his young mind.
Encouraged by his success in his relatively short career in photography, Sanka make a life-long dream come true by opening his own business venture - Studio Click – at a prime location in the Battaramulla area. Given the strategic location of the office, he was able to provide an exceptional service to the clients in Battaramulla and the surrounding areas.
Studio Click continued to make steady progress as a creative, flexible and reliable studio that constantly delivered excellence. In 2008, the Studio Click office was expanded into a fully-fledged modern studio in order to provide clients with a better service and a wider range of photography services.
Right after completing his Advanced Level examinations, he took his first professional steps into photography by obtaining employment as a photo journalist in the “Eththa” newspaper. He was able to show off his natural talent for his art at this newspaper and was soon able to secure a job at Upali Newspapers as a photographer.
Sanka enrolled at the University of Ruhuna with the goal of obtaining a Physical Science degree. While continuing his studies, he was the man tasked with taking cover photos for the “Meewitha” magazine of the popular “Divaina” newspaper. This particular assignment served as a stepping stone for Sanka to learn more about fashion photography. Through this, he was given the opportunity to conceptualize his own cover designs by picking the model, costume, location and various other elements, all of which he had complete creativecontrol over.
Sanka achieved a personal goal, when he put together his own solo exhibition titled “Rays & Shadows” at University of Ruhuna, all in the midst of the hectic final year of his university studies. The exhibition was a resounding success and received rave reviews from all visitors and fellow photographers. Following the success of the exhibition, he was able to organize it again, but this time at the prestigious Lionel Wendt Art Gallery in Colombo.
Sanka’s creative talents and keen eye for detail lead to the organizing of Sri Lanka’s first-ever photo exhibition that was dedicated to children. The exhibition, titled “Kid’s Click”, displayed a large collection of photographs of children all taken by him. It was held at the Waters Edge and received a tremendous response from all visitors.
With the growth of the operations, Studio Click shifted to a brand new office and studio in Battaramulla in 2013 from where it currently serves thousands of highly-satisfied clients.
Here is one thing the photograph must contain, the humanity of the moment.
